Nuclear Disarmament

Upper Hudson Peace Action recognizes that the proliferation of nuclear weapons is detrimental to the cause of international peace and humanity’s sustainability, and thus, advocate for the disarmament of these weapons by all nations. The threat posed by these weapons is unprecedented, for their possible use in any war has the potential to destroy entire populations, and possibly society all together.

Our leaders in Washington remind us regularly of the possibility that Iran might get nuclear weapons or that North Korea is a nuclear threat.  At the same time they say little about other nuclear states, including Pakistan, India and Israel.  It is time to end this hypocrisy.

US nuclear policy needs to be reversed
Under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty the United States and other countries with nuclear weapons are obligated to divest themselves of their own nuclear weapons.  Unless Washington moves boldly to do so, it will make little progress getting other nations to disarm.
