Meeting Notes of Schenectady Neighbors for Peace March 13, 2007 Attendance : David Gerhan, Anita Paul, Rich Angehr, Cary Berliner Lisa Fine, Villalobos, Maxine Borom, Bertha Kriegler, Bonnie Koshofer, Elaine Klein, Mark Klein, Pat Obrecht, Bob Obrecht, GerriRoben, Pete Looker, Helga Schroeter. Meeting scheduled with Pres. Of School Board, Rich Angehr, Bertha Kreigler, Anita Paul and Cary Berliner will represent SNP. Our requests will be for equal time, a table with counter recruitment info, opportunity to speak at Assembly, literature rack in library, There is a lack of knowledge about options for students, in addition to military service . We see need for reality education ( i.e.What country has most nuclear weapons) for students. It would be good if we could identify student group who would request the above. Feb. 27th Steering committee of SNP sent a letter to judge on behalf of two Muslims convicted. Also to Gazette and TU. Feb. 24 th Elizabeth Villalobos and Pete Looker attended NYS Conference on Peace Action. Elizabeth was voted onto the Executive Board and can represent SNP. 3/16-17 Steve Clunn of First U. Methodist Church will be doing non violence training 3/18 March at 2 pm in Albany. SNP will meet on steps of NYS Education Bldg around their banner. Anyone interested in walking in Arbor Hill before that is asked to contact Pete Looker. Student contingent will join the main march 3/25 Upper Hudson Peace Action Dinner at First Church in Albany, 6 pm pot luck, suggested donations $25 representing 25th anniversary. 3/17 Regionally 24 people registered and paid for event in Washington, DC. Vets and others will march to the Pentagon. Theme NO MORE WAR. Publication: Refresh, Refresh by Benjamin Pursey available Panel Discussion about Terror Trial , SNP co sponsored. DVD available from Anita Paul. 3/15 Tommy Sands, Irish Band at 7:30 Eighth Step. SCCC Saratoga Peace Alliance met with Tracy Brooks of Clinton’s office, with Declaration for Peace. Occupation Project, group arrested outside Clinton’s office Film Committee: Terry Roben, Maxine Borom, Peg Watrous, Pete Looker Met. Terry reported that Sch’dy County Public Library main branch is available June 5th Need 2 months advance notice. Rotterdam Branch has Apr. 16 or 17. Terry suggested film Out of Balance about environmentas date is close to Earth Day. Will make arrangements. Maxine reported that SCCC has a very complicated process. SCPL our best bet. Other possible films: Ground Truth, Iraq for Sale, Common Ground, Sir, No Sir Committee will continue to pursue and notify SNP Flyer: Carolyn Micklas has offered to make flyer for us: using info from SNP will design for us. In Spring singer , songwriter Miriam Aluvated, also a peace activist, will be at Jewish Community Ctr. Elaine Klein asked if SNP would sponsor. SNP said yes. Pete suggested we make $25 donation to First U. Methodist toward heat since they allow us to meet here rent free. Agreed to. May 23 : Memorial Day Parade in Scotia.
