Brief History of the Palestinian Rights Committee The PRC, formerly known as the Capital District Committee for Palestinian Rights (CDCPR), was begun as an informal coalition of Palestinians, Palestinian-Americans, and supporters in 1982, as a result of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in which more than 15,000 Lebanese and Palestinians were killed, often with American-made weapons. The CDCPR was exceptionally busy from 1986-1993. CDCPR
published a newsletter several times a year, held frequent
vigils, demonstrations and counter-demonstrations, sponsored lectures of
visiting speakers from around the world amd held formal meetings with
Representative McNulty. The
PRC became an affiliate of Upper Hudson Peace Action in January 2008. |
